POLE STAND
I created a simple flag
pole stand for a small flag using 3D printer. Three parts were assembled to
make the flag pole stand and they were the base, support and mouth. The parts
were made using PLA plastic. The flag was 5” x 3”, the pole was 10” long and
3/16 inch in diameter.
Base:
Base was designed to
balance the weight of the flag considering the center of gravity of the flag as
well. The base is 2 inches in diameter and a quarter inch thick.
Support:
The main purpose of the
support was to join mouth and base together and also to balance the weight of
the flag. It’s also difficult to join mouth directly to base as this joint
isn’t strong enough to withstand the weight of flag. The support is 1.25 inch in
diameter and quarter inch thick.
Mouth:
Mouth was designed to
hold the flag pole and the flag. The mouth is a hollow cylinder, so the flag
pole perfectly fits in the mouth. The mouth has outer diameter 5/16 inch and
inner diameter [3/16 + 1/64] inch. Notice the 1/64 is the clearance for the
pole to fit in perfectly. The mouth width is 0.625 inch.
Thus the three
components were super-glued together and the flag was installed. Happy Labor’s
